I’m Sarah Mak, a narrative designer and writer from Singapore. I love making story-rich video games and interactive fiction.
I just released an interactive fiction game that is competed in the Interactive Fiction Competition, and I am in the midst of polishing it for a post-competition release.
Previously, I wrote poetry. I made some interactive poems with Twine—and this inspired me to learn more about interactive storytelling. If you’re interested in my page poetry though, my poems have been published in several journals and anthologies, such as Quarterly Literary Review Singapore, Eunoia Review, and Silver Birch Press. I’m a member of zer0sleep, a writing collective supported by Sing Lit Station.
Other than that, I just graduated with a Communication Studies degree from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), with a specialisation in Broadcast and Cinema Studies. I also have minors in Creative Writing and Film.
What I’m Doing Now
Currently, this is what I spend my time doing:
- Working on the final project for CS50x, Harvard’s introduction to computer science course
- Planning my next creative projects
- Learning how to do strength training properly
- Improving this website, bit by bit
