I’m Sarah Mak, a narrative designer and writer from Singapore. I write and design story-rich video games and interactive fiction.
My interactive fiction game, You Can’t Save Her, won a few awards in the 2024 Short Games Showcase. You can play my game here.
I also write poetry. I made some interactive poems with Twine, which inspired me to learn more about interactive storytelling. If you’re interested in my page poetry though, my poems have been published in several journals and anthologies, such as Quarterly Literary Review Singapore, Eunoia Review, and Silver Birch Press. I’m also a member of zer0sleep, a writing collective supported by Sing Lit Station, a literary charity.
Sometimes, I participate in game jams as a writer, game designer, and project manager. I just like creating frankenbabies with other cool people! To be more useful in game jams, I’m learning more about game design, and I’m fine-tuning my project management process.
What I’m Doing Now
Currently, this is what I spend my time doing:
- Figuring out how to min-max my money without losing my mind
- Planning my next creative projects and general life trajectory
- Learning about game design and production on my own
- Learning how to do strength training properly
